NAOMI LOVETT
Naomi fell in love with dance from a very young age with tales from The Princess Dancer, a 1930s book given to her as a child.
She originally learned to dance by watching old 1930/40s films starring Carmen Miranda, as well as films choreographed by Busby Berkeley. She has also studied under dance masters such as Faezeh Bird (founder of Sheik’s Delight), Sara Stocks (an authentic Egyptian belly dancer, Chloe Dent (a member of Hipsinc) and Vicky Ivanovic (an elite London-based tribal fusion dancer). However, Naomi’s most loved and truly exotic tutor was the famous 1960s European dancer Tuscha Bleu, who guided her through American Cabaret belly dance.
She has always been fascinated by other cultures from ancient to the modern pop sub-cultures. In 2004 she discovered American Tribal Fusion, Gothic and Oriental Fusion Dance, and this refreshed her love for this sensual form of belly dance, believing it to be among the most healing arts.
