SHIATSU

Shiatsu –which is becoming an extremely popular form of therapy -is a form of pressure point massage that is carried out without oils.  (In fact, you wear comfortable clothing throughout.)  It was developed in Japan early in the 20th Century.
Important research from the European Shiatsu Federation has established that 86% of clients perceived that Shiatsu was effecive in treating symptoms of stress, tension, problems with muscles and joints (including back pain and posture problems), as well as low energy and fatigue.  In fact, it has been found useful for the following…

•
Arthritis and other musculo-skeletal problems
•
Sciatica
Joint pain and reduced mobility
•
Whiplash and neck stiffness
Sports-related injuries
•
Headaches and migraines
Anxiety and panic attacks
•
Depression
Menstrual problems
•
Fatigue disorders
Insomnia
•
Digestive disorders
Period pains
•
Asthma
Circulatory problems

Your practitioner will use fingers, thumbs, elbows, knees and even feet in a combination of massage techniques, applying pressure to key points to stimulate and influence energy flow in the body.  The treatment should leave you feeling relaxed but invigorated, and a series of Shiatsu treatments can help alleviate the build-up of stress and dis-ease in our daily lives.  From the first session, you should feel a lightness in body and mind.

How to get the most out of your Shiatsu treatment
•  Please bring or wear loose, warm, comfortable clothing, preferably cotton, e.g. sweatshirt,
tracksuit trousers and cotton socks
•  Do not eat heavily in the two hours before your treatment
•  Do not drink alcohol before or after your treatment
•  After treatment, drink some water to smooth the flow of changes through the system
•  If at all possible avoid strenuous or stressful activities after your session
•  Please do not wear perfume, cologne or aftershave
