Maria Christofi

Maria has been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine and bodywork for 20 years and is dedicated to using her skills and knowledge to enhance health. Treatment is rooted in the principles of calming the heart and mind, clearing energy blocks, eliminating toxins, moving blood and nourishing the body to encourage natural healing.  A blend of acupuncture, massage techniques, energy healing, Chinese dietary therapy and lifestyle advice forms a tailor made treatment plan to balance mental, emotional and physical health. Sessions are in tune with the seasons and moon phases to harmonise natural rhythm and life flow, honouring the link between mental, emotional and physical health.

Before joining the Wellington Health & Wellbeing Centre, Maria was based at Neal’s Yard Therapy rooms in Covent Garden for many years and currently still runs a busy practice at the Shoreditch,  Camden and Soho branches of Triyoga, London’s renowned Yoga and healing centre.

Specialising in fertility & women’s wellness, Maria has extensive experience supporting menstrual issues, fertility, pregnancy, digestive, stress related issues and beyond. As lead acupuncturist of the IVF fertility clinic at London’s Hammersmith Hospital from 2008 - 2011, Maria has supported hundreds of women throughout their fertility and pregnancy journey.

Maria’s signature acupuncture and Gua Sha rejuvenation facial addresses any underlying health conditions to enhance overall health and inform through skincare and lifestyle advice. Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese form of massage using a smooth tool often made from Jade or rose quartz.  This combination of small needles and Gua Sha massage boosts collagen production helping to heal scar tissue, releases tension in facial muscles and underlying fascia, reduces inflammation, drains puffiness and stimulates blood circulation for a facial that works outside and within.

Maria’s passion lies in supporting people throughout the transitions of life, be it physical or emotional so treatment is also empowering during life events such as bereavement, career or relationship changes and as a support for spiritual practice where the treatment room becomes a safe haven with a commitment to deep relaxation. Maria continues her professional development by attending seminars such as those held at the Royal College of Obstetricians in addition to continued training with her chosen mentors.

Prior to discovering the healing arts, Maria studied fine art at Central Saint Martins in London and still paints, incorporating the meridians of Chinese medicine and energy centres into her studies of the human form.  Maria is also very interested in the link between sound and vibrational healing and will be embarking on sound therapy training to further enhance her treatments.
