Continuing on from the Ashtanga Yoga Beginners Course, our 6 week Ashtanga Yoga Improvers Course teaches you a structured and progressive way to deepen your practice.
The core of each class will be the flowing sequence of the Primary Series, but we will pause along the way to focus on specific aspects of the practice, such as alignment, breath, bandha, dristhi, counted vinyasa, benefits of poses, how to begin to jump back and through, etc.. So even if you've been practicing a while you can deepen your experiential knowledge through the tips and techniques given. During the 6 weeks, we will look more closely at the standing poses, before moving onto the seated poses, (up to Half Primary Series). The classes will conclude with a modified finishing sequence and guided relaxation.
As part of the course and to gain most benefit from the course, you are encouraged to complete approximately 30 minutes of daily practice between classes (using the booklet provided), and to attend all the sessions, as each session builds upon the last.
Upon completion of the course, you may wish to join the Mysore Self Practice sessions, or you may just wish to repeat the course.
It is for those who have completed the Beginners Course and feel ready to develop their practice further, and also for those with an existing Ashtanga Yoga practice, who wish to refine their technique.
Places are limited to 12 students only.
