Susannah McCarthy

“Feminism freed my mind, yoga freed my body. It’s one thing to intellectualise self-love,

and another to embody it.” - Melanie Klein

Susannah McCarthy, MA, C-IAYT has been teaching yoga for 17 years and practising as a yoga therapist since 2022. The International Association of Yoga Therapists is the global leading body for yoga therapy. Its mission is to integrate yoga into healthcare systems and with that sets the standard for accreditation.

Susannah is drawn to the IAYT approach because it has faith and hope and beautifully blends the astonishing and unmeasurable healing potential of yoga (embodiment, spirituality and everything in between) with Western biomedical wisdom and evidence-based research.

Yoga therapy is helpful for all physiological and mental health difficulties. Susannah has worked with clients with cancer, reproductive system challenges, diabetes, auto-immune diseases, cardiovascular conditions, chronic pain, trauma, anxiety, grief and primary/secondary ageing.

Susannah meets the individual in their bio-psycho-social - spiritual entirety and co-creates a personalised and evolving therapy drawing upon the yogic gifts of movement with inquiry, breathwork, meditation, mental imagery, deep relaxation, sound, yoga nidra and self-awareness.

She has a particular interest in the dissociative and fragmenting tendencies implicit in embodiment challenges.
