Marybeth Haas

Integrative Arts Psychotherapist

About my approach:

Self beliefs and assumptions about life can be mostly unconscious: we don't know we have them but they inform every choice we make. We learn these in response to our early experiences in our family, culture and environment. If these beliefs and assumptions remain unexplored and unconscious, they rule our lives without our knowing it and we may wonder why we repeat negative patterns or why it feels impossible to be content or peaceful with life.

Integrative Arts Psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach which actively encourages and works with the client's imagination alongside conversation to facilitate self understanding. I offer a non-judgmental, facilitative space in which to explore your experience through talking and/or images, whether they are mental images, ready made or self made, dreams, sounds or other sensations. By exploring and processing whatever it is that brings you to therapy you can become more free to live in the present and you can develop self awareness that enables you to discover your potential for making healthier and more fulfilling choices within your life circumstances. Through psychotherapy you can gain insight into your ways of being and find ways to connect with your heart and soul in order to fulfil your potential.

Each client will require a unique approach to their reasons for coming to therapy. I am led by what clients bring combined with my own interests; the beauty of an integrative approach is that I continually assess and deepen my awareness of the many ways of understanding humanness in a fluid way which keeps the client at the centre of the therapeutic process.

Some of the things I can help with include the following:

• anger difficulties • anxiety • bereavement & grief • body image problems • childhood or recent trauma • depression • dream work • heartbreak • life purpose & meaning • low self-esteem • parenting and family concerns • relationship difficulties • self expression • sexual, physical or emotional abuse • stress • spiritual crisis • transpersonal exploration •

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from psychotherapy, just a desire to know more about yourself.

I am also pleased to be offering Clinical Supervision for psychotherapists and counsellors working with adults and young people. I offer a judgement-free space in which to explore the impact and efficacy of your work with the clients you support and to reflect on your professional development.

In addition to supporting psychotherapists and counsellors, I am also available to support other professionals whose work may impact on their sense of well being and who feel they might benefit from a confidential reflective relationship in which to explore their work while developing and enhancing their service provision.

I have over 15 years’ experience in clinical practice in a variety of settings with a range of client groups, including and not limited to: bereavement, end of life, domestic and sexual abuse support with young people and families, depression, anxiety, neuro diverse experiences, clinical trainees and more. I am currently working in private practice out of The Wellington Centre and online and I am part of the Eggtooth Project therapy team.

I have a certificate in creative supervision from the London Art Therapy Centre (2022) so my approach is integrative and creative and might incorporate the use of a variety of modalities depending on, and led by, the needs of supervisees. Please get in touch for a no obligation chat about your supervision needs. See the psychotherapy page on www.consciousarts.co.uk for more information including fees.
