Myra Nicol

Myra Nicol took up Yoga in 1979 as an antidote to a challenging career in Nursing.

Living in Southend-on-Sea, Essex she was introduced to Peter Ballard who taught Yoga and worked with BKS Iyengar in India and London.

The therapeutic approach of the Iyengar method appealed and very soon Myra was taking classes under the auspices of The Southend Iyengar Teachers’ Consortium.

This period 1982 - 1997 also coincided with the birth of her four children.

In 1987 Myra commenced a 4 year Diploma Course with the British Wheel of Yoga and worked with Indar Nath from the Battle based Patanjali Centre of Classical Yoga

During the early 90’s working with Dr Robin Monroe (author of ‘Yoga for Common Ailments)  Myra helped conduct trials with asthmatic patients for the Yoga Biomedical Trust at Great Ormond Street London.

Also at the Pineapple Dance Studios in London worked with Derek Ireland who was credited for bringing Ashtanga Yoga to the West.

Myra is offering Yoga classes every Tuesday at 1pm - 2pm here at The Wellington Centre
