Genevieve Shultz
Genevieve's Pilates journey began over 15 years ago when her instructor identified the toll certain aspects of ballet training were taking on her body—simply by observing her walk. Through Pilates, she learned how to dance while maintaining healthy, functional, and sustainable body alignment in both her training and daily life.
In 2020 while studying at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance in New York, Genevieve began teaching mat Pilates. She is a third-generation classical mat Pilates instructor, certified by Art and Science of Contrology, with a lineage tracing back to Joseph Pilates’ student, Romana Kryzanowska. After moving to London in 2021 to pursue a Master’s degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, she expanded her expertise by completing her reformer certification through Stott Pilates. Since then, she has also acquired her Tower/Cadillac certification as well as her Pre and Post Natal qualifications. She continues to deepen her knowledge of the field through ongoing workshops and mentorship, including Classical Pilates workshops with James Shaw and mentorship with Misty Lynne Cauthen, a Balanced Body Master Teacher and Principal Educator. Genevieve has gained a wealth of teaching experience in London over the past five years, teaching mat, active ageing, teen, Tower, and pre- and post-natal group classes, as well as six-week beginner Reformer courses. Throughout the years of teaching 1-to-1’s, she has worked with a range of ages and individual needs, formulating personalised plans to support each client’s goals.
Genevieve places a strong emphasis on intentional movement to build a solid foundation of strength, focusing on alignment, precision, control, and awareness to help clients progress.
Genevieve is passionate about sharing the empowering, restorative, and transformative benefits of Pilates that have profoundly changed her life.
