Mysore Self Practice is the traditional way of learning the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga method. Under the guidance of the teacher each student gradually learns and memorizes the set sequence of postures at his or her own pace. Instead of leading the class, Andria gives each student individual instruction and hands-on adjustments. It’s almost like a private lesson but with the benefit of the group energy. This method allows for the student to practice silently, with increased inner awareness, and so slowly, over time, begin experiencing the moving meditation that is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
Self-practice classes always have students of mixed levels and abilities practicing side by side. Initially, to learn the system, you will need to allow approx. 45 mins for a class, building up to about 1 and ½ to 2 hours once a full series of postures is being practiced.
Start Times & Duration
Start times: 5.45pm/6.00pm/6.15pm, finish practice by 7.45pm. Beginners should arrive at 5.45pm.
If you wish to commit to practicing regularly there is an option to pay in advance for a class pass of 5 or 10 classes to reduce the cost per class. See below for details.
Suitable for: Students of ALL levels are welcome. Visiting students with an existing practice are welcome too.
